1993 GMC Safari - When I come to a stop. While I have my foot on the brake, the engine shakes and shudders. The shuddering stops when I lift my foot off the brake. The shuddering gets worse when I turn the steering wheel while my foot is on the brake. What would cause this to happen?

I'll tell ya, that this was also my sonario and the problem was so bad
that the side mirrors would also be shaking while stopped. The solution was simple. Check your motor mounts. Both of mine had absolutely no rubber left in them. The engine was pretty much sitting on the metal frame and contrary to popular belief when I gave it the gas, the engine DID NOT jump like it would seem to do in other vehicles with worn motor mounts. It only takes a few minutes to check. |

Re: 1993- stopped, engine shudders, while brake is pressed & steering wheel is turned.
Might want to check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir, (DexronIII fluid, small black reservoir above master cylinder.) and also the belt, it may be slipping. This system uses the power steering pump instead of a vacuum booster for the power brakes.

Is there a hissing sound while your pressing on the brakes?
