6th gen GT Convertible

I'm considering about buying a 6th gen model thats a convertible. Ive been looking up on the specs and it's pretty weak. 135HP? How fast can celica really go?

Re: 6th gen GT Convertible

That celica will never be very fast unless you swap a motor. If it is a manual you will be decently speedy compared to your local riced out civic. Other than that though don't expect to be doing any pinks racing unless you wanna lose your car. Look into a swap for it or a different car. Good luck and sorry to be the bearer of bad fortune.

Re: 6th gen GT Convertible

I see. Well i was researching a little bit more and found out about the GT-4. I was thinking maybe i could do the swap from previous celica model, turbo, AWD. Maybe that will make a decent car. How does that sound?

Re: 6th gen GT Convertible

you can swap the gt4 engine (3sgte) into ur celica. it will bolt to the tranny. the engine has 200hp and 225 for jdm. 260 in the 3rd gen 3sgte not released in thre us. i wouldnt get a convertible get a hatchback. it is not thAT fast in a line but you should be able to beat some people in the twisties. overall it is a pretty cool car.

Re: 6th gen GT Convertible

why a hatch instead of convertible? Do they make a difference? I picked convertible just because i like their style. by the way, how much would the entire process of swapping cost with the materials and parts?

Re: 6th gen GT Convertible

just my visual preferance, plus the hatch will handle better and is lighter. read ther sticky thread "read if you want to do a 3sgte swap" it has all the answers.

Re: 6th gen GT Convertible

My 6gen st has 110. It still beats everything else on twisties (except a wrx, evo, and 4ws prelude) after suspension upgrade. The car is quick on its feet, very light and agile. If you're looking for comfortable compact, this is not it. A 3sgte swap will cost you more than 5000 including all other expenses, and quite possibly give u a headache later. Running a "3sgte" equals spending a lot of gas. Nonetheless, the car is fun to drive, even in stock form. If you're looking for performance....its a good project car.

Re: 6th gen GT Convertible

the 3sgte will only cost 5000 max, and thats if u get someonre to do it for you. you can get a full clip for 2k and ship if for like 500 and the count 500 for misc parts and an exaust system you got it for under 3k if u do it urself.
