Finally got tired of not seeing the buttons on my Stock CD Player so I took it out and revamped it.
Unit with face removed and Burn out Bulbs shown ![]() Unit with some LEDs installed. I tested it each time after I soldered an LED in. ![]() All LEDs in just testing ![]() Complete! ![]() 1) Remove Stereo from the truck 2) Undo 2 brass screws on the bottom near the plastic front. They get in the way when removing the face. 3) Gently Pull the Tuning, Bass, Tremble, Balance and Fad knobs off. They should just pull off. 4) Gently pry the plastic front with the buttons off. The Circuit board and Plastic Piece are one unit. There are tabs all the way around the front of the plastic. 5) Undo the 7 or 8 screws that hold the Circuit board to the front of the unit then the circuit board should just fall into your hands. 6) Then it's just a matter of desoldering the bulbs from the Circuit board and soldering your LEDs with a resistor back on to the board. Make sure you get the LED in the correct way as each light has a + and - lead. ( I drew it out if you want a copy of it let me know) 7) Make sure all of your LEDs are right down on the board or use smaller LEDs as I had to lower mine to make it fit. 8) Test your installation and re-assemble. Took me about 3 hours to do but, looks really good.....

Re: CD Player back again...
Hey chuck do you have a copy you can email me of the negative and postive part of the bulb and how they fit in there? I soldered 4 new red bulbs in and when i put them in and started my truck they all blew instantly. I made sure the solder wasnt touching eachother so Im not sure what happened maybe except i reversed the neg and postive. I noticed the neg and positive prongs on the board but im not much of an electrician so i dont know much about curcuit boards. Thanks bro.

Re: CD Player back again...
Hey Firedawg,
Check this link out, this is the CD Player. http://www.gm-trucks.com/gallery/alb...D%20Wiring.jpg If you don't know the polarity in the HVAC COntrols just check it with the bulbs out of there and then you'll know. You should be able to use a Volt Meter to measure the voltage. I didn't happen to note that down when I did the HVAC. The part that is absolutely critical is getting the resistor on the positive side of the LED otherwise you will fry the LED like you already have experienced. Cheers Evan
