1988 K1500 Standard Cab Weight Question
I have a 1988 K1500 Standard cab 4X4 with a V-6 and 4 speed transmission and I need to register it and would like to get a approximate weight of the pick-up so I know going in about what it weighs as I will have to pay a fee according to weight.
The old registration card show the weight as 8186 pounds and that seem very heavy. The truck is bone stock. Any feedback???? |

My 05 ext cab 4x4 weights out at 5147lbs. I went to a DOT highway weigh scale. I would hazzard to guess yours weighs a lot less.

Re: 1988 K1500 Standard Cab Weight Question
I have an '88 K1500 with a 350. It's a stepside so the fiberglass makes it presumeably a little lighter but it is stock except for engine mods which wouldn't really affect the weight much. I once worked at a machining plant and put it on the scales for the metal scrap trucks (it was calibrated to within 20 lbs.) With a half tank of gas it came in at 4430 lbs. When I tried to rent a car carrier trailer once the place told me my truck was too light for the classification because they said their computer put the listed curb weight for my truck at 4300 lbs.
