Cool Custom Chevy SSR pseudo rat rod w/hauler

Maisto 1/24 model (built about 5 years ago), I chopped the roof off, painted in pseudo rat-rod color scheme (unclearcoated Tamiya metallic black) w/rims from the Black Force slammer model. The hauler is a new D Rods cabover I found at Wal Mart (also saw a pearl yellow one), I did a bit of black wash on the grille and added a bit of foil trim around the body to cover some of the silver painted trim. More to follow. This is a fun setup...can't take modeling too seriously, y'know? Might get GTMike400 to machine me some matching rims for the cabover unless maybe someone already makes newstalgic Dub rims

Re: Custom Chevy SSR pseudo rat rod w/hauler

No Double posting Bob. Hey, I'm planning on ordering a ton of material for my lathe soon. Send me an e-mail letting me know what diameter stock the wheels need to be and I may be able to turn some steelies over at Waynes, if you pay for material.

I should be getting the lathe soon, hopefully by mid next week, but Im not sure when its going to be shipped out. Not sure it will be fully running by then though.

In the first sentence I said "I chopped the roof off..."

Look at the blue SSR in one of the pics and compare it w/this and the in-progress shots to see what all I did. It's a bit more than a simple repaint and rims since the Maisto model was made w/the diecast top permanently in the up position. Interior is mostly stock w/the addition of photoetch visors. Nothing changed underneath except to fit the AMT wheels.
