1997 Toyota Camry LE 4 cyl Auto, passanger side CV axle. We have the axle away from the hub, have pulled the snap ring and intermediate shaft bearing lock nut, have tried to pull the shaft out but it won't come. We haven't tried a big pry bar yet wanted to ask for suggestions? Help.. Thanks!

Re: 1997 Camry cv axle
carrier bearing is probably binding in the housing - try Kroil or other rust penetrant, then try pulling again.
Some bozo reused the old carrier bearing lock bolt with the neoprene tip missing on mine, so the carrier bearing had been rotating in the cast iron housing giving it no opportunity to rust in place. As a result, I was prepared for some heavy pulling, but the axle just fell out in my hands - that's why I think yours must be binding there. |

Then use a sledge, or pry bar. Happens every time. Nothing to worry about.

Well a large punch and a BFH seems to do the trick, it wasn't easy but after a beer or two afterwards it was all FUN.... Thanks for the Moral support...
