Angry Are These Speakers Blown?!?!?!?!?!?!

Hey i just bought a brand new cadillac cts with a bose audio system.... and the sub in the back is already making noises. What happens is when i turn the volume up past a certain point the sub makes a tapping noise every time it vibrates... I was wondering if my speakers are blown or if the sub is just loose and it is tapping the plastic. And if my sub is blown would i have to by a brand new sub or just get it fixed if possible?

Sounds like what a blown sub would sound like to me...I've never heard of repairing a blown speaker, but if it is possible it'd still be better to just buy a new one

Re: Are These Speakers Blown?!?!?!?!?!?!

I actually Blew 6 sets...(yes 12 subs) when I had My Kicker Truck Boxes back in my s10....I had a 2 year warranty so I didnt care if I blew them or not...They repaired them every time.

But yes. It does sound like a blown sub.

Sorry; but NO; they're NOT blown.

A blown speaker means the surround (foam part) is ripped. This means the speaker will usually make noise WHENEVER it is used; because it is no longer centered in the speaker cone.

If the speaker only makes noises at high volume; the cone (moving part) it bottoming out on the coil.

If this is part of a box+Amp package; turn the boost on the amp down in small increments until the bottoming out stops.

Re: Are These Speakers Blown?!?!?!?!?!?!

Its BOSE...its all intergrated. Youc ant adjust the gain for a bose system. The speakers BOSE uses for the vehicles are crap compared to home versions. So i would say YES it is blown.

Re: Are These Speakers Blown?!?!?!?!?!?!

Tdragone i have seen subs that were so blown that the coils were welded together and there was not a mark in the foam, so sorry to say but you are wrong there. I would say that it is on it's way to a full blown blow soon lol.

Re: Are These Speakers Blown?!?!?!?!?!?!

all of the speakers i have blown had nothing to do with the foam part. Its the coils that are messed up.
