how much should I offer?

this is what the guy says

Quote:
Basically it will be the complete longblock, including distributor. The tranny as an auto tranny that has already been spoken for, but you can easily add any 5-speed tranny to it. Engine will have bout 85,xxx miles when it comes. Engine is really strong and oil has been changed approx. every 3000 miles with Mobil One Synthetic. I also have the P75 ECU to go with it. So if you just need an engine that still runs strong, LS/VTEC setup, or turbo....this is the engine for you. I'm not 100 percent positive what goin rate is, but I'm looking to get $1000. Open to offers. Thanks.
what do you think I should offer him'?

it's an OK price. It's not a total ripoff but you could probably do better as well.

You might want to check into the ZC motor as well - -it's not that much lower in HP and it's a LOT lower in price - - - turbo/supercharge a ZC and it will destroy a B18.

I think IM gooing to offer him around 800 or so + shipping b/c I can get a b20 for the same price with <20k miles......so maybe even less. I would get a zc but this is newer (out of an 95 ls) has higher displacement, more hp, more torque and I also hear its good for turbo. My plan is to stay non vtec and just build internals, block guard ect, 20+ psi at the track

IMO I wouldn't do it, that is way too much for just a motor w/no tranny! My boy just got a B18B for his Teg w/out tranny for only 400, so I'd say just keep looking around or find a nice ZC!!!

I agree. Besides, 85,000 miles is a LOT of miles for a motor that you want to put a lot of money into to make it go fast. I'd look at the ZC again -- - first off, it's not VTEC, second, you can get a 30,000 mile engine for 300-400 bucks.

It's flexible and can be bored. Most people don't bother with that though -- Think of it this way. A supercharged D16 in a CRX can whip up on Porsches. Imagine what a supercharged ZC will do
