Vibration from front of car.
I'm usually pretty good with cars but my lack of GM experience leaves me questioning with my current problem.
I have a 1998 Olds Intrigue GLS. 3.8 When ever the car is stopped, ingear or not, warm or not, i feel a slight vibration from the front and can hear it inside the car. It is in rythem with the engine idle. It has just appeared and I parked the car so if it is something serious I can get it to a mechanic before disaster strikes. The only things I can come up is maybe a crank bearing or maybe a bent pulley. Once again, the sound completely disappears when you press the gas or acelerate. |

Re: Vibration from front of car.
im jsut under 120k, this weekend ill get up early and figure it out. im thinkin a mount or something, with the wishbones id think theyd wear out pretty quick, i only notice it when the car is at a stop, with either braking or in park, thats where i think its the mount, but im not sure. for all i know it could be that mask over the top.

Re: Re: Vibration from front of car.
this sounds like a harmonic balancer problem. It the time-ing of these engines related to the harmonic balancer also?

As for the question, I don't understand what you're trying to ask. |

Re: Re: Re: Re: Vibration from front of car.
my dad had a 1988 3.8L Ciera and replaced the harmonic balancer I think. Isn't there magnetic pick-ups on it or sometype of electrical advance = this could be the problem of your dieseling also. Does your harmonic balancer have a type of balance weight that may have fallen off? I will need to ask my dad what he did to his. I have the 3.5L.
Sometime a loose torque converter or flex plate connection will give you that rattle also. This happened in a Century 2.8L we had. |
