Question 2006 Hood

Do you guys like the new hood? I sure do, It's real bulky and higher. Makes the Silverado look meaner. If there's someone who has a gray 06 and prefers the 03-05 hood I'd be happy to swap.

Yeah I love the new hood and grille. makes a hell of a difference. I wish it were cheaper to switch both of em out.

I like the hood, we have a 2006 Silverado Crew cab that the wife drives and we use to haul the atv's and we have a 2003 Silverado standard cab that I drive to work.

Is it the HD hood?

Well I'm just guessing.... grill probably isn't too bad maybe 3-400 bucks from the factory. Its the hood that I'm guessing would cost an arm and a leg. But I gotta admit, I was driving home from work the other day on the highway and I saw a brand new z71 coming up behind me and the high rise hood looked straight up mean.

Re: 2006 Hood

Honestly, I think the HD hoods look better on all the 99-2006 models. I was actually thinking of seeing if I could find one from a junkyard for mine.

Re: 2006 Hood

I like the HD hoods the prominent powerdome really make them stand out not to mention intimidating in the rear view mirror.Especially when the hood is on a lifted truck.

Re: 2006 Hood

It was nice to see the HD hood on a few trucks, made the ones you saw stand out. Now ALL '06 hoods are high domed HD hoods.
Kinda like the once elusive LQ9 only in the Escalades/SS/VHO .... Now almost everyone can have one....

Back to your question..... No

I really like the grill on this military truck, but is that the new hood?

Here's the new hood:

Off to find a head on image.

That 2006 is a really nice truck! I think the grille really stands out more now. The hood is better looking too. But, the thing that I really like about your picture is the SNOW!! Around here, I'm beginning to think that we are not going to have much of a winter in January. It has been in the 70's and 80's for the past several weeks here in the Ft.Worth area.

Sincerely,

Matt
