2000 Sufire misfiring

2.2 L engine, 4 cylinder 2000 Sunfire. Started misfiring, (loosing power) service engine soon light flashes and traction control light on steady. The warning lights stay on steady as the car misfires and sputters steadily. Had the ignition module changed as well as spark plug wires and ignition coil. Worked great for a week or two, then back to the flashing service engine soon light, misfiring and sputtering, low power. Can anyone help? PLEASE, we are running out of money!

Re: 2000 Sufire misfiring

have you had any head work recently? Also which cylinder is misfiring.

Also make sure your battery connections are good and not messed up.

Also on the coil packs when you installed htem did the post look ok there as well.

no, it just runs bad at idle, gets worse in cold weather. The ETS light also wont go off, another post had similar symptoms and ets and they said to replace O2 sensor, i might try/test that next. I replaced spark plugs which helped a little.

Re: 2000 Sufire misfiring

yea i've done plugs, wires, coilpacks but still no luck. Let me know if the 02 sensor works. I am guessing it would be the bay 1 O2 Sensor

We were told to take the "traction control" off and leave it off. It seems to be working.

Re: 2000 Sufire misfiring

I don't see how that would affect anything but if it works for then then go for it. My tranny mod kicks out the TC Thank God I hate that shit.

Too bad mine doesn't have the old off switch though lol
