1997 Sunfire start problems

I have a 1997 Sunfire 2.2 Liter, automatic transmission. Had for about a year no problems until the other day. Cut the car off, was fine. Went to start it in the evening it would not start. Turned over but did not start. Check engine light was off. Checked sensors, wiring, relays, and grounds and located no problems. Removed the negative battery wire, and let it stand for a few minutes, then when I connected the battery back up the check engine light came on, and the vehicle started. Ran for about one minute then shut off again. Check engine light did not come on as it shut down, and was not on when I turned the key back on. I removed the PCM fuse outside under the hood, let it set a minute and put it back in. When I turned the key on, the check engine light came on and the car started when I tried to start it. It ran for about 45 minutes then shut off again, doing the same thing. I again removed the fuse and replaced after a few minutes and it started up again and ran. Where do I need to start to look for problems?

Try taking out the muffler and starting my 96 had the same problem but it was the catalytic converter-it was clogged and not getting enough air I had to replace the whole exhaust system

UPDATE: I disassembled the wiring harness and found a kinked and broken wire under the front of the vehcile, inside the protective wrapping. Red wire was also broken. It ran from the camshaft sensor to the PCM. Cut it out, soldered in a new piece of wire and vehicle now appears to work fine.
