Question 1996 Jimmy problems

I have a few problems with my Jimmy that have me puzzled.
1. When I start up in the mornings the car runs correctly but as I make my first few right or left turns I can hear a gurgling water sound in my dashboard. Is this my heater core? Does it have air in it or is it going out? I still currently have heat and all fluid levels are full.
2. Sometimes the ABS light comes on faintly, not fullly lit. Stays on until I turn the car off and then maybe in about another week it will come on for an hour or so (also faintly) Could it be a sensor?
3. My back hatch/window won't open. When you press the button for hatch release it make the noise that it's opening but it won't open, window either from the inside or outside. I think a cable is loose inside the door but so far I haven't opened it up to see. Anyone else have a problems with theirs? Just trying to figure out what I looking at in terms of repair $

Southern Girl:
As for #1, this is a typical sound when the heater core is plugged - from the Dexcool antifreeze. You need to have your cooling system flushed, and the heater core pressure flushed. Replace with the regular green anitfreeze.
As for #2, it's probably a wheel sensor, although the ABS relay can sometimes work intermittently. You could try swapping that relay for one of the other ones with the same part number and see if that takes care of it, and/or creates another probelm. At least you'd have the cause nailed down.
As for #3; do you have a hatch or tailgate/window combo? If it's the cable inside, you can pop the trim panel off and replace the bad part yourself a lot cheaper than a garage.

Good luck!

I would agree with #1. Flush the cooling system (acid flush) and replace with regular glycol. But also change to a stant cap for proper bleeding of the system.

#2 is probably debri in one of the front wheel sensors... Pull your rotors and liberally spray the area with brake clean. Another issue could be the ABS module itself. You may need to stop at a dealership and have them run the diag on it with a tech II unit.

For #3 You don't have a cable in there, it's all linkages. If you're not hearing any movement in there when you push the button, pull the back panel and start metering the harness. Here is the pin out for your hatch motor..

Re: 1996 Jimmy problems

I have the same problem with the hatch. It does make the noise as if it is working when I push the gate switch in the front (which leads me to believe that the switch is ok) and when I try to open from the rear release, they both sound as if they are workin, but the hatch just wont release. What is the part I need to replace? Where can I buy?

Thanks for your help?
