Odd electrical Problem

Everytime I shift from drive to neutral the "B/U LMP/ABS" fuse (under dash) blows causeing the ABS light to come on and the traction control to turn off. I wouldn't care so much except my blinkers and a/c blower only work sporatically when the fuse is blown (same circuit?). It only happens when I shift from Drive to Neutral. I can put in a new fuse, put the car in drive, and all is fine until I shift back to park--crossing through neutral (fuse blows). I removed the ABS pump and system fuse from the PDC under the hood -- but fuse still blows, so I don't think it is the ABS. Any Ideas? Does anyone know what sensors or electronics are triggered when shifting gears, specifically from drive to neutral? Thanks

I'll take a wild guess that the problem has to do with the "neutral saftey switch". This is the switch that prevents you from trying to start the engine unless in you are in neutral or park. A frayed wire could be shorting to ground when the linkage is in Neutral.

This might be a red herring, however. The Powertrain Contol Module (PCM) or Transmission Control Module (TCM) in modern chrysler minivans could implement the Neutral Saftey switch function in software.

Re: Re: Odd electrical Problem

If you unplug the Neutral Saftey switch, and the fuse still blows-- does that mean that it wasn't the problem? I unplugged what I thought was the Neutral Saftey switch and it still occured--however, it may have been the wrong plug b/c the car would still start in park and neutral only with the plug pulled.
