Need help please

In my Focus 2000, I noticed while i'm driving that my gages they move freely and sometimes they just don't work. I checked my alternator output and my voltage while idle was between 15 and 18 volts. Is that normal? Any suggestions? Thank you.

Re: voltage regulator

That is too high. Check your battery voltage at 2000 RPMs, it should be 13.5-14.7 volts.
