Timing issues.
In my manual it says to remove the SPOUT from the TFI harness, but it doesn't show what it looks like. Is this the SPOUT? http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/7953/photo0067gr.jpg
Also when the timing is set, at 10* BTDC, then I connect the "SPOUT" back to the TFI harness, the timing mark moves. It goes way past the 16* BTDC on the cover... I'm pretty sure its not suppose to do this, but I don't know what could cause the problem. Any suggestions? Last edited by Anavel; 01-07-2006 at 05:08 PM. |

My old Ford Ranger had a spout connector and it looked like that. When you hook it back up EEC takes control and changes the timing. (I think) Anyway, I say you are doing it right.

Re: Timing issues.
Alright guess I was doing it right, but the timing change after the SPOUT has been reconnected seems alittle weird to me. Mainly because its a big change.
This is how the timing is after the SPOUT: http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/2170/photo0049ou.jpg The arrow shows the new timing mark. |

Re: Re: Timing issues.
Timing is supposed to changed when the spout wire is reconnected. When it is disconnected it keeps the computer from adjusting timing as it sees fit. Like pulling the vacuum line off of the vacuum advance of a regular distributor engine.
