Towing questions

Ok, so Mikes car is a POS. We are just going to rebuild the engine, but theres no garage close by. We've decided to rent a storage unit to put the car in and work on. The only problem is getting it there. It doesnt quite run, it fires, just wont actually run. Will towing it behind a truck be bad for it? We had to have it towed to his house and they had to use a flatbed because its AWD, it was like $80. The plugs were shot, I'm hoping a new set of plugs with let it run enough to drive it a couple miles to the shop. If not then we are going to pull it behind a friends truck, unless its really bad for the car, then I guess we have to bite it and get it towed on the fuckin flatbed again. Thanks guys.

You have to use the flatbad, you can't tow an AWD vehicle. Hopefully you can get it to run enough to move it a few miles.

Re: Towing questions

as long as the car is neutral and someone is steering, I highly doubt that any damage can occur...Just make sure not to go too fast thats all.. GL

Re: Towing questions

I know that you cant do it on 2 wheels, what I mean is tow it on all 4. Like stated above, just hook up somethign on the front and pull it. Will that work?

Well the way I see it is if all 4 wheels are on the ground and you're being towed its basically the same thing as coasting in netural so it should hurt at all

Re: Towing questions

Can anyone back this up or say a for sure no? Anyone ever done it? Will just leaving it in neutral and pulling it on all four tires work?

Re: Towing questions

No problems. Just remember that your steering and braking will be difficult without the engine running. Other than that don't let the 5.0 see you and everything will be just fine.

Re: Towing questions

Awesome. Yeah, we'll be doing it on backroads probably early in the morning or later at night. We still need to look around for a shop (rental storage unit that will be serving as a shop while we pull the engine ) but as soon as we find one, we'll go to work. It will sometimes start for a coupe seconds, atleast enough to let the brakes and steering depressurize or whatever, I'm thinking we'll make it work. I know how we can get from his house to the place that we are most likely going to rent from in about 6 turns. Heh, I know our little town too well . Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
