Question Wastegate Actuator

My 2000 1.8L TDI was running like crap with no power and what I found was that the wastegate was stuck open and the wastegate actuator had rotted out and had a hole in the side of it. I've tried to purchase the wastegate actuator alone but my VW dealer says I must buy the whole turbo. I've found a few performance shops that have sent me some actuators but the one I need seems to be reverse acting (vaccum pulls arm towards actuator). All the actuators I've seen seem to be where pressure pushes the actuator arm away from the actuator body.

Does anyone have a lead on where I might find the proper wastegate actuator?

I'd rather spend $75 for an actuator than spend $1100 for the turbo. Cars been down for months. If I gotta spend the money on the turbo I'll get an upgrade kit. Any recommended kits that I could simply bolt on would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Wastegate Actuator

go the the junkyard and find a tdi turbo and take the wastegate off of it.

also you can put aftermarket turbos on, but that would require remap of ecm and fuel upgrades
