vibration

I recently got a aluminum driveshaft. Ever since I put it in I get a bad vibration around 50-60mph. Would rotating it solve the vibration? I dont see how but maybe...

Re: vibration

Its vibrating on you?. Thats very odd. Try rotating it but I only ever heard of that being a issue on the steel one's. Are you sure that the driveshaft isn't contacting anything?. Shoot me a PM if its still giving you a issue after you rotate it.

Re: vibration

Monkeys welded my cat back on so I had to shift the pipe over for it to clear but that was all that was close to it. Ill rotate it when I get out of work.

Re: vibration

Your original shaft was a one piece steel, right?

Also, is there any noise when the vibration is felt or is it just a vibration. Is it felt in the steering or gas pedal or the whole car?

Re: vibration

whole car. I just put all new tires on the car and balance and alignment and the works. Thats not saying anything for sure though. Its not coming through the steering wheel. And my rear end has always whined and now when the car shakes the whine oscillates with the shaking. Feels like the vibration is right in the middle of the car.

Re: vibration

LOL, bite me Geno. When you shifted the exhaust. Is the exhaust contacting the body in any locations now. Like above the rear axle near the shielding?. If rotating doesn't do anything for the problem. Do you still have your old shaft to put in. To see if the problem goes away?

Re: vibration

I put the shaft in just like it came. I just cleaned some dirt off. The exhaust was just barely squeazing over the axel. Then it came loose and is now sitting on either the axel or the panhard bar or the other bar thats down there. I just got a magnaflow catback but havent put it on yet because its in the mail. Thats why im not really worried about it.

geno: yeah def got it from formula...lol

Geno already knew you got it from me , he is just a prick . Well try rotating it. Then see if there is any play in either U joint by putting the car in park and twisting from side to side. If there is play then the U joint needs to be replaced, If after swapping in your old shaft the problems goes away. I will give you the option of a replacement or a refund but I check all my driveshafts when they come in for any damage to the weights or dents and then look down them to make sure they are straight. So I am shocked if it turns out to be the shaft but will make good for it. Just curious what had dirt on it though?. Cause I clean them up before you get them and you said it looked real good and I know you said there was something white on the joint but that was probably just some solvent I used to clean off the shaft that had got on the tape used to secure the joint for shipping.
