Angry Start Attempt Kills Power

OK, After stalling from a stop due to lower RPM on a grade, when I try to start it, I get a shutter-click and then loose all power for about 10-15 sec.
1) It's not the battery - It maintains 12.4v
2) It's not the terminals/cables, they also maintain 12.4v
3) It's not the Starter relay - I replaced it
4) It's not the Fusable Links, I replaced them.
5) Power connections at the starter look fine
6) It will start from a roll (You know - rolling it then popping the clutch)

It acts as though the power load fron the starter causes such a drop that it kills the ECM for a few seconds. But I can't for the life of me figure where.

Is it possible that the Starter/Selinoid has failed, causing a huge momentary drain when engaged that kills the ECM which resilts in the apperent loss of power?

Re: Start Attempt Kills Power

Sounds like the starter to me. Mine did pretty much the same thing when it went bad. I would get one click and most of the power would go out and the idiot lights on the dash did odd things, they would go out too sometimes. They wouldnt come back either till I shut the switch all the way off.

If you replace the starter yourself good luck. You will need to drop the exhaust pipe thats in the way to get the starter out and it can be a b***h to get out.

Sounds like a bad starter to me too. Maybe a broken/shorted winding.

One more vote for a shorted out starter.
