Question Im looking for TB 05'. Need opinion on gas consumption, etc...plze !

Hi all!, im looking for a Trailblazer 2005 LT. It was accidently on USA (the owner was living there) and now its repair in my country (Canada). We do that much often in canada, we get the car broken and bring in our country to get repair. So, my questions is, i found a beautyfull black one full equip. The accident was not so bad (hood, top and one door) so the guy who repair it, do a great job. The price is very nice too ! I in love of the look of the Traiblazer... this one is much better in black color. Anyway, im a Pontiac Montana 2000 (i have kids) since 3 years soon. Im not so in love with this van. Its run fine and all but i dont like to drive it. We run about 8000-10000 miles in years (not so much) for work and weekend. Ive read many sites on web the trailblazer is expensive on repair and take much gas than i can expect. In Canada the government said the traiblazer 05 4x4 take about 18/27 city/hwy of gas. I want to ask at a real owner who do the test. And i want to know if im gonna have some serious problem with or some repair cost much (brake, cooling air, etc.). I want to know how you love it and if the gas is really a bad thing.... the price of the gas will still climbing so i think its time to get the TB05 before its too late...

Thanks all of your respond and sorry for my english.
Have a nice day!

My '83 LTZ (regular cab, 6-popper) averages about 18 in the 6,000 miles we've had it. (We bought it used with 15,000 on it) Our miles have been about 85% highway driving. I've never seen anything like 27 unless it was coasting or downhill.

I guess you mean `03 LTZ
So you make 27mpg only? Thats sound good! Here some pple ive talk with said the TB will do only 18...maybe 16...

We dont have highway here and its winter (cold winter). So i suppose to be able to have 23-24mpg....maybe ?

Do you like your TB ?

Yes...of course...I screwed up. 03 not 83.

I do NOT get 27 in any kind of "real" driving. Only if I'm slowing down. Maybe if I was on cruise control at 40 mph...

You'll be doing exceptionally well to get 23-24. I bet it's more like 16-18. (US gallons per mile)

Yeah, I like the TB EXCEPT for the stupid headlights that won't stay shut off, and the Onstar equipment that I was forced to buy because only fleets can delete the OnStar, ordinary people have to buy it. I also resent not having lock cylinders on the passenger door and the rear liftgate. Heck, I'd rather have a tailgate than a liftgate. Overall, though, it's a nice vehicle.

I hear lots of electrical problems, but have not had any myself.

I have an '04 EXT with the I6 engine, and I consistently get 14 mpg in regular driving, and 18 on the highway.

I've had my 05 LT for a little over a month now and have 2200 miles on it. I do mostly rural driving 55mph and 4 miles between stop signs. Right now I'm averaging 16.6 MPG.

I have an 05 v8 w/dod and I can average 20mpg if i carefully watch my pedal behavior. A pontiac montana won't get any more than this.

16.4 mpg with almost 6000 miles on a 2005 GMC Envoy. I can't imagine getting 27 mpg!

Try easing onto and off the pedal easier, without going down very far anytime. Also, give it a few more miles, as it is still relatively new and will take a little more carbon buildup in the engine to get optimal mileage.

Phewop thanks for the info. I will keep track of the mileage everytime I fill the truck up for awhile. Hopefully it will improve with time.

There is not a full framed, mid-sized RWD/4x4 SUV out there that is going to do much better than ~20MPG max. Nearly ALL of them do somewhere between 14-20MPG. If you are consistantly getting less than 14mpg with a 6cyl in stock form, something is up. (tires underinflated, drivetrain problem, etc)
