Intake mani replacement = not fun on GSR!!
i replaced my intake manifold w/ a new HP Racing IM in preperation for boost....this is my first major and one of the more difficult steps in my build. It took about 6hrs and wasnt a lot of fun at times....the power gain is totally worth it!!
![]() ![]() One of the problems was the fuel rail. I got an aftermarket one but the stocker would work just fine so i decided to use it. The problem we had was the stock FPR was in the way. We fixed this by "gently" bending the vaccuum fitting ever so slightly on the top, and then mounting the whole thing upside down. In order to hook it up, we had to extend the fuel line which was fairly simple. ![]() Here is how it looks from the top w/ the vaccuum fittings all attached and the IACV at the top

Re: Intake mani replacement = not fun on GSR!!
if anyone has a GSR and wants to do this, let me know....i can hook you up and give you some directions in order to make this a lot less painful. If i knew then what i know now, it would have taken about 4hrs or less......its not that bad if you know what you're doing, but jumping into it w/o reading up on how to do it is bad!!
Top end gain is sick!!

Re: Intake mani replacement = not fun on GSR!!
thanks....it made a BIG difference too! I was honestly surprised how much of a difference it was....now i'm on a mission to get more people to do it to their GSRs.....i can you guys these manifolds for a lot cheaper than you might think!! If you want one, let me know because there are only a couple left in stock as far as i know.....

Re: Intake mani replacement = not fun on GSR!!
Looks good....i would think mounting the air filter directly on the throttlebody would have some negative affects on it but since you said you are going turbo their is no reason to fab an intake up to put on it. I am trying to ditch my Skunk2....what is the inlet size on that manifold....I am trying to get a 70mm throttlebody but if my intake manifold is only 66 or 68 mm it would be pointless.

Re: Intake mani replacement = not fun on GSR!!
please if you could....i was also looking at the AEBS manifold....it is rather inexpensive and has secondary ports on the back. Nitrous is something id like to blow my motor up with next...lol

what are you looking to spend?? I could get you this mani for probably $300 shipped....and to do it, i'm going to have to have you send me PayPal and then i have to resend it to the guy that sells them.....he'll give me a deal on them...and i'll pass that on!! Oh, BTW thats the price w/ a fuel rail too.....

I know you are planning on going turbo, but i thought that if you didnt have any kind of forced induction a bigger throttle body and intake mani was going to make you lose power?

Re: Intake mani replacement = not fun on GSR!!
no it helps the top end, but it kinda kills low end response.....top end rules and Vt@k loves the new intake.....every GSR should have one of these!! Plus i'm using the stock TB anyway.....

Re: Intake mani replacement = not fun on GSR!!
if you still have that $300 and you're looking for something to do, i could get you one of these manis with a new fuel rail....w/o the fuel rail i think i could get like $240-250 shipped...i'd have to find out!
More importantly, look at what i got today!! ![]()
