carbon hood

hi apex n1, the kit actually comes with a semi gloss black decal to represent the carbon hood but I decided to just paint it. But I just learned a good painting technique which I will try on this spoon civic soon. All you need to do is paint the hood a semigloss black color and try and get the finest screen material you can find (I use silkscreen material) and then put the screen over the semigloss black painted hood. spray a very light coat of gun metal over the screen and this should produce a very fine checkered pattern. Cover this up with a smoke mixture (black mixed with clear) and this should produce a good carbon fiber effect without the trouble of decals fitting around compound curves and everything

thanks for the tip wishmaster I better find a better spot to take my pictures next time.

endless, the model actually came yellow but i primered it with automotive primer gray (since I usually use car paint) and then sprayed it with dupont yellow followed with a couple of coats of clear lacquer.

i remembered reading that somewhere....

now i remember, yeah that was from the tamiya website thanks vric couldn't remember where I got that tip from I'll have more pics up soon, just need to borrow a digital camera again.

Like the typical modeller, I have a lot of kits in the works right now, I'll try and list some of them

Fujimi mugen integra
Fujimi integra - spoon version with typeR engine (couldn't find the spoon integra so I just made resin copies of the spoon rims and also made a resin cast of the integra engine from the revell kit, add another count for modellers with this kit)
Tamiya Pajero with engine detailing
Fujimi Veilside s15
hasegawa eg civic hatchback - converted to spoon version with type r engine
hasegawa eg civic sedan
fujimi e-class amg version
fujimi lancer evo 5

I also picked up 3 new models this week, the cwest rx7 (great kit!), fujimi evo 3, fujimi cusco evo 7.

I'm trying to complete my evolution collection and I'm missing the hasegawa evo 2, any have any idea where to pick this up? very rare kit. I have the evo 1 though

so how was your experience w/ the spoon car? I wanted to get one too but some people said that it was a pretty bad kit. How much did you buys yours for? My local hobby shop sells it for 27 dollars. you guys think it's worth it?

Don't you know, it's 10 hp for every sticker, 50 hp extra for every additional inch of rear spoiler behond stock height.

tenzo, I got the kit here in the philippines for 1000 pesos so converted, thats roughly 20 bucks. The kit was actually really easy to build, the details aren't that great (as expected from the simplified chasis and suspension parts by fujimi) but it looks great. Its basically a fujimi civic type-r model with the spoon rims, spoon side mirrors, spoon decals and a spoon "duckbill" wing for the back. I'm not sure how much the civic type-r models are over there but if it's a big difference, it might be better to pick up the regular type-r and convert it yourself. The only difficult thing is finding the spoon rims HTH!

I guess you can't link your pictures to other websites

calsonic, yeah the pic won't show on kotse.com because I uploaded the pics on this site. yup that's the one from STC virra I'm finishing up my pajero right now, the suspension, engine and interior is done. I'm still deciding on the color though. I'm thinking two-tone blue and silver to keep it JDM any suggestions guys? how about you calsonic? what's your current project?
