funny noise?
I have an 01 Z71 with the 5.3L. Everytime I cold start it, it makes a ticing noise with a little rpm. I think that once oil has lubed all the parts it quits cause the engine is still cold. Is this a common thing with the newer chevy's?

yup, do a search in this forum on "piston slap." It happens, nothing to lose sleep over
