Question Do you obsess about your car's mileage?

I do. I keep track every time I put in gas and figure my mpg, and have little contests to see the lowest and the highest MPG I've ever gotten. And I get excited about numbers on the odometer. Right now I'm really excited because my car has 99,088 miles and that means I'm coming up on 99,999 AND 100,000. My boyfriend thinks I'm a weirdo because I have a little party in my head whenever the mileage #s form patterns, but then again, I just like numbers. Am I a weirdo?

Since the tax on diesel fuel is paid based on distance travelled, rather than at the pump,I have to keep an eye on how many k's I use.As to the all up total, most cars imported second-hand ex Japan have their odometers severely doctored anyway,so there's no guarrantee that the mileage total is anywhere near accurate.

I couldn't give a fuck about mileage, just as long as the car remains reliable.....

I care about milage because it means rebuild. When I approach 100,000,I wont wait till it dies, i'll rebuild it.

I also love to figure out roughtly how much MPG I get :bandit:

I always look at my milage. Its one thing I always pay attention of, I know my car is about to hit 60,000 kms, and since my car isn't a jap import its not tampered with! (Though I did check it properly)

And I always know my fuel usage, I write everthing down from the petrol pump. Then I put it into a spreadsheat in Excel, which figures and graphs everything.

I know i use 7.5L/100km

Hmmm - I now have over 214,000 kms on my SiR and I'm starting to get worried.

I saw my first puff of smoke as I went off the lights today - I'm hoping it was fuel as I'm still on the original motor.

It was fun watching it clock over to 200,000 though.

How do they keep track of distance travelled? Can't you just mess with your odometer, then pay less tax?

I dont really care that much about the cars kilometerage.

My vehicles are always old enough, that even if it had less kms , it still woudnt be worth anything.

I do try to keep track of fuel economy, but in the end as long as the car is running, it doesnt matter how many kms shes gone.

It physically makes me sick to see miles rack up on my speedo because resale value goes down. On my 2001, I need a meter than records the depreciation VS time/mileage!

My car is pretty much worthless, so the high mileage on it is no big deal to me

I do watch my odometer as far as knowing when I am due for my next round of maintenance. As for MPG, my car has a trip odometer so if the mileage changes too drastically then I know something's up. Next project: new fuel filter and fuel injector service.

I always keep a track of the mileage on my car so that I know when it needs servicing, etc. I also have a vehicle log book and keep a track of how many kms I get out of a tank each time I fill up. It helps me to work out which fuel gives me better economy, not that it really matters because it's a petrol guzzler choose which I use!

I really try to keep track of my mileage. My car is not worth as much b/c it was rebuilt from an accident, so with extremely high mileage I'd have to sell her for pennies whenever that time comes. In 9 months I've logged over 15,000 miles. My insurance will probably increase, too, since the car was originally only supposed to be for transportation to work and school...

I also keep track of mileage and gas consumption pretty religiously. Well, I atleast write down the miles and gallons used.... I tend to forget to calculate it afterwards.... :o
