Aftermarket Xenon replacement bulbs
Hello, I ordered up some Xenon replacement bulbs on eBay for my 96 JGC. They were only 10 bucks so no big deal, but when I got the bulbs the box says 'For offroad use only'. Anyone swapped these in and have problems with the law? Are they too bright? Illegal? differ by state, if so how can I find out about Illinois? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

i replaced my bulbs with the ebay bulbs also for $10. also i put in the ones for the driving lights also that are xenon. had no complaints and nothing from the law neither. put them in and and see if they bother you if you walk down a few blocks from the truck with lights on and look at the lights.

<1996 JGC 4.0>Im still trying to figure this out, I looked last night again now that I have a headlight out and the side marker (orange) light out, but cant figure how to get these damn things out. I have the bulbs for the headlights, can I just change the bulb? I took off the connector on the drivers side and could see the end of the bulb that is in the back of the headlight but it wouldnt budge. (I think I need to remove the battery to get to the passenger side??) Can anyone explain how to get the headlights out of the passenger side or how to just change the bulbs (headlight and side marker). Also how much would the dealer charge to replace these for me(rough estimate)?

buy a haynes manual or remove the connector from the head light....and pull the headlights out from the connector without touching the bulb...same thing to put it back in, dont touch the bulb cause it has gas in it and u could break it.....some bulps may not just slide in and out cause you have to twist them in until it clicks.....for the side markers just take off the 2 or 3 screws that hold them in(DONT LOOSE THOSE SCREWS) and unplug the connector from the housing.....for the headlights it should just unplug while still attached |

Re: Aftermarket Xenon replacement bulbs
The bulb should just pull right out, but some you have to twist (to unlock the socket) then pull it out of the lamp, and the bulbn just pops right out of the socket.
You should have to remove the side marker or headlamp itself, just pull the socket out of the back of the headlamp. |

Ok, last night took a go at it, found out how to remove the bulbs in the headlights. Driver side easy, passenger side had to remove the battery (cracked the battery tray hold down while doing this, and now one side is broke), but nonetheless it is complete. I bought the Haynes manual and for the side markers it says that in order to get to them, the grille needs to be removed, then the headlight and then finally the side marker.I found the two top mounting screws on the grill, but it mentioned some clips, I think I found the 4 of them along the bottom of the grille put couldn't figure out how to get them off. I then looked at removing the headlight to assess the difficulty, mentioned three screws for this I could only see two on each and they looked like a Pain In The Arse to get to. Is all of that really necessary in order to change a 50 cent bulb? If so that think will continue to be out! Also anyone know where I can get a new battery retainer tray? Thanks!

Re: Aftermarket Xenon replacement bulbs
To remove the grill there is 3 screws on the front side of the grill, unscrew them and pull the top of the grill forward then up. You might have to remove the 2 top bolts as well, but I don't think so.
