wheres the therostat

i need to replace my therostat. 87 cutlass supreme V6 . i know where its supposed to be, but i just cant find it. does anyone know where it is, where to find a picture, or anything. thanks

Welcome to AF! If you simply follow the top radiator hose to the block you will find the thermostat housing. Unbolt, remove and the thermostat will be inside mounted in the manifold. Make sure not to overtighten and make sure to use a new gasket.

hi, thats what i did. i unbolted the altinator cuz it was in the way and looked. should i take the radiator hose off. what i thought might be the houseing was covered with lots of wires and metal bars in the way.

You can make the repair either way. Remove the hose or leave it in place. Since you have the coolant drained it would be a good time to replace the hose anyway.
