i couldnt see the video either, can i get a summary, other than just saying rape... do you know if it was a manual? i know with the 5 speed they are pretty strong at the top of third (70-90 mph), but after that they suffer some. from my experience, second gear is my favorite in the car. it seems to like that gear.

gimme a break. it's not his fault his 1.8L makes almost as much power as fords 3.8L. i would certainly hope a Cobra could beat a celica, i dunno if a GT would though.

well... vips best time is a 14.5 correct. dampachi ran a 14.1 with his gt when he was still here, im not gonna mention a 13.9 cause he never showed proof of that.

as far as your first comment, it is a top model vs. a base model. it does matter, displacement isnt everything these days, and you know it, so you shouldnt even try that. it has more to do with how developed the engine is and how much money is spent on it and whatnot. plus the 3.8 has its advantages, namely torque, its a very torquey motor with an invincible block and bottom end.

and if your trying to imply from the first comment that ford just cant build engines. well they have a 260hp NA 2.3l I4, thats not exactly bad.

stock for stock a celica isnt gonna have a chance against a PI Mustang GT, unless the mustang driver cant drive

and even against a non PI mustang (95-98) the stang would still probably come out on top.

the v6 mustang is really meant for those who want the mustang styling without the stiffer price tag and high amounts paid at the pump

i just don't think it's right to try to discredit vip's win by saying the race was unfair. considering the specs of the cars and the fact that both car's are in the same price range, i can't see what's so unfair.

i understand what your saying, but the mustang is about $5k dollars cheaper, price range isnt quite the same.

by no means though am i trying to discredit vip, i respect his car and what hes done.

Why the hell are we having a big discussion about the racing being unfair when its just a race.. and if the guy chose to race him then that's his problem.. its just like a Honda Civ going up against a new GTO or something.. he knows he'll probably lose or doesnt, but the fact that he chose to step on the gas pedal and race was his choice. So congrats on the mustang owning.

yah i'm sorry stang00, one bad v6 owner experience ruined it for me... well a couple... the other guys i kno are great !


and for the video summary he puts about 3 car lengths on him w/ a couple shifts from a roll, if it was from a launch i don't think the mustang would have been anywhere near as close

when entering a race you forfeit rights to whining, complaining, making excuses, or saying a race was not fair. There is no guarantee in racing and it may be possible for the civic hatch to smoke the viper or corvette. nobody knows for sure. the winner also reserves the right to brag to his friends and under no circumstances is allowed to flash his hazards, brake lights will do
viewers forfeit the same rights as the drivers because they witnessed the happenings
when the story is expressed written or verbal people may call BS but not when a video is posted or timeslips of both contenders are available

For a second I thought this was going to become a Mustang bashing party. I'd hate to see that base model mustang get blamed for losing a race that it shouldn't have been in.
But yeah, that guy got owned. Pure and simple.
