I'm by no means a mechanic, but it could be a short somewhere in the wiring.
I believe that the reverse lights are triggered by the transmission wiring right? Anyways, hopefully someone more knowledgable will be able to help you. Maybe my two cents worth will give you a place to start looking though? |

Re: reverse lights
Hi all,
My 98 Sonoma had no reverse lights, and it ended up being the switch that screws into the transmission (for my 5-speed). It is on the side of the trany, and it had a simple connector. You can also check each reverse light socket, to see if you are getting voltage, using a meter. Put your emergency brake on. With the car off, but the key on (so the dash lights come on) and the transmission in Reverse, check to see if each reverse socket is getting 12 volts. Check from one pin to the other in the same connector. This is likely to be your problem if you are getting lights on one side of the truck, but not the other. Good luck, Kevin |
