2.8 engine for 93 s10 pickup

I have a 93 s10 and the engine just throw a rod. still runs but I want to put another engine in it. I got 279,361 miles out of it. getting alot of different info about replacing the engine. looking at an engine that is a 2.8 but not sure if it would work.

what engine do you currently have in the truck? do you know what year the engine is that you are looking at?

If you don't know the year of the engine your looking at but its good and has a one peice rear main seal, get it (84 to 87 have a two piece rear seal and are balanced differently). The only thing that might be different is the cam. You can swap the one thats in yours to the good engine. Not hard to change. That this point you should put a new timing chain, and all new gaskets on and say good by to leaks.
