Change plug wires from the coil pack 95 Cav
I have a 95 Cavalier 2.2l that on rare occassions wont start when the engine has sat over night. The Engine cranks well, it's getting gas and a spark but will not fire and turn over. If I let the car sit for about 30 - 45 minutes then it usually starts without a problem. It only done this about 5 or 6 times over the last 2 years ,but its done it twice in the last week. I been getting a ocasonial check engine light When the cars first run for a while in the morning ,but the light usallly goes off.
Any Ideas to what may be the problem. Ive changed the O2 sensor and the plugs and the light still coms on! I dont know if this is the problem. I cant get to the coil back in the back of the engine to remove the spark plug wires to change them. What's the easiest way to get at the coil pack at the back of the engine? Do I have to jack it up and crawl under or what?
I went to Advance auto parts and they told me their scanner only works on 98 and newer. Im confused to whether I have OBD 1 or 2 cause the connector shown in my Manual is a eight pin connector , but the one I have is a 16 pin connector. 2 on the top row located together and 2 on the bottom on each end. The books all say I should have OBD 1 but I had advice from this forum that it's odb 2.
Do I need a scanner to read the codes or can I use a jumper wire. I would appreciate you recommendtions and comments.
