JDM Civic HB Vs. Skyline...
I bought a 1992 Civic hatch for $1000 just because everyone here in Japan thinks Hondas are junk. I used to have a '93 MR-2 with a T04-s on it back in the day (1994ish) and I used to beat up on many R32s (GTR). I thought those days were done when I went into VIP/Dress up cars (Toyota Majesta). But I have been reading a bunch of import mags and decided to mess with Hondas. I still have my Majesta because I can't afford to sell it. I have about 80K in it and could only probably sell it for 20K. Anyways, all the americans that get stationed here are in the military and all buy Skyline Gts-t's (2.0 rwd) or Chaser/Mark II's (tourer V). I only currently have a muffler, but spank the Gts-t's and Chaser/Mark II's all day long. I never thought that the B16a would be so fun to drive and especially for only $1000. I was going to turbo it, but just bought air intake, intake manifold, and throttle body. If I like how it feels when I put them on, I may just buy a header and call it a day. Unless I get spanked by a car so bad it makes me want to boost. I don't go out to the races, so I only mess with cars on the highway. I have lost to a couple of lancers and got destoyed by an R33, but what can you expect with a $1000 car vs an R33 with a wastegate that sounds like a jet engine. GTRs need not worry, but watch out GTS-t's.

sounds fun. I laughed when you said that all the americans in the military buy skylines... haha sounds exactly like the mentality i would expect. Its like people here have the skyline on such an unreachable podium only because we can't get them here. So everybody wants one. People don't even realize that the GTR was only one of many different skyline models, and that more commonly the skyline is just a weak four door grocery getter.

ok so whats your problem? All I was saying is that most people think of a skyline as the GTR model and don't realize that there are other models of skyline that are much more common. Thats why I thought it was funny that all the american military guys get to japan and then have to have a skyline mainly because its something we can't get here so it gets talked up to such high levels even though there are better/faster cars out there.
So anyway like I said wtf is your problem? are you a skyline fanboy who didn't realize that most skylines are 4 door grocery getters? did I burst your bubble? Don't get me wrong I love the GTR models but when noobs get on here saying skyline this and skyline that I just laugh to myself because I realize that you don't know jack shit. PS: don't quote me and change what I said asshole.

Re: JDM Civic HB Vs. Skyline...
^Agreed. Only thing worse than manipulating someone else's post is doing so with a powerfully unfunny result.

looking into my first car I had several choices. For the price of a '99 civic w/ fairly low miles, I could have gotten faster cars w/ still safe mileage. I don't regret getting the civic. I loved the styling and knew it'd be reliable. Not to get into front yard specials such as old turbo talons or 5.0s I could get for a few grand, my two main choices at the end were this car and a late 90's Cavalier Z24 w/ lower miles. While many lol at a z24's performance, this teenager (me) knew it had a healthy 150 hp or so and at least matching torque. That w/ 5 speed would be great fun for a first car after a new set of rubber. What kid would pass this up over an auto non vtec honda? Me, because I loved the styling of the civic and new it'd last. I don't simply hate Hondas, I like and respect them for what they are, but can't help to laugh out loud when a owner of anything short of a S2k or NSx talks another car down. I wasn't trying to put up a front, but just had to make a note. I have no near future plans of buying another honda. I can live w/o no torque when I have no other choice, but once I get on my feet I'm not going to spend hard earned cash on a quick, sporty car which description only apply above 5XXXrpm. I hang around the board because I currently own a honda and will help or ask for help whenever I can, not to mention I like the posters. Even if I ship off and my next car ends up being a Skyline GTS-t, I'll still post here share kills(which I don't now) or whatever I can do.=P If I make it fine in life and Honda replaces the s2k w/ a torquey 6 banger or I'm in need of a reliable sedan, I can see myself jumping back. Excuse the crazy post body, I don't know what happened.>_< |
