l dont wanna sell my girl, need help!

hi guys..

l guess u guys know already that l had problem with the tranny. well, today delaer will call me and let me know what the problem is. (l am praying that it will be a problem which is covered by the warranty company) if it is covered by the warranty company, they will take care of it. if it is not. l will pay 500 buck to those guys for nothing (just for checking fee) and l will have to sell my girl. if l let them fix my problem, they will definetely as at least 3000 bucks. (which l dont have) and l am not gpnna be able to pay and l am not gonna be able to drive and sell my girl.

l got an idea but l have no idea how can l do it. so l need your helps.

can l get cheap rebuilt tranny and make somebody install it for me cheap? if l get the trany from e-bay or somewhere and put in my car and take the car to a mechanic and tell him, hey buddy will u install this for me? would they do it?

l live in Atlanta, GA. if anybody knows anybody here who can help me. pls. let me know. any other suggestions would be appreciated.

l do not know ANYBODY in the U.S.A. just u guys. so there is nobodyelse who can help me around, but u.

thank you.

What is your maximum budget here? Honestly, what do you need to get out of this car if you sell it? If that number does not justify the cost of repairing it, you might be better off selling it with a messed up tranny to someone who can tow it and fix it themselves or take it as a project, etc. Finding a tranny on Ebay or at a local tranny shop will probably run you at least $500 plus another 4-6 hours to remove/replace it at a shop. Best case scenerio, you're probably still looking at about $1000 for a tranny that may not last very long either...in either case, you wind up selling it unless you want to spend the money to get it done properly. Sorry to hear about your situation and hopefully your warranty will cover it...

Did you agree to a checking fee of $500.00? That seems rediculously excessive to me. Usually there's a set diagnostic fee. Or, at least that $500 should be credited towards the repair bill..

There are places called "Aamco" which are volume transmission repair shops. They have stores pretty much across the country. I'm sure there's some other names too. I had decent luck with one in Cleveland, Oh. They rebuilt a turbo 350 for my 1972 buick Skylark when I was in college and had no place/ ability to replace a transmission on my own. It worked fine.

While places like these are not "performance" places, they could get you going on the road again for much less than the dealer would charge you.

Maybe fix this enough to get it going then sell it. Selling a car in a broken condition will get you a fraction of what it would otherwise be worth.

I hope whatever your problem is- it can be easily fixed.

Re: l dont wanna sell my girl, need help!

thank u guys.

well, my budget is like 1500 bucks. if the delaer would isntall the tranny, how much do u guys think that they would charge me? just removing the transmission take 4-6 hours? or removing, checking and putting it back takes 4-6 hours? hopefully it is covered. man, if l sell this bird now, l will be carless for a while but when l get a car, it is gonna be definetely 02 WS6..

well, l am really confused.. once the delaer calls me, l will let u guys what happened.

thank u..

man, there was a set diagnostic fee. they told me 95 bucks. and l towed the car over there. and then they called me. hey buddy, this is transmission. l was ok, what is it exactly? he said, we have to pull it down and check it. and l said how much will it cost me? 95 bucks? he said no. 500 bucks, it is 5 hours job buddy. thats it. l hope he is ttelling the truth.
thank u man..

Try aamco, avoid the dealership as they charge the highest labor rates and are not always the best for fixing your car. My grand am went to the dealer for a simple thermostat, cost me $250 and it was defective. The result of that was a cracked head and blown head gasket. Look at your options, and if the crooks at the dealership drop the transmission to diagnose it and its garbage, call around see if you can have the car towed somewhere else without having the dealer put the transmission back in.

hi skibum1111.

you mean, l should let them pull the tranny down and let me know the problem. and then if it is not covered l should take the tranny and tow the car to somewherelse? other mechanics would accept that?

Just make sure the shop you pick to do the work knows what has been done by the dealer. Independants around here have no problem cleaning up someone else's mess, and usually do a better job at it because they want the reputation and business.

Re: l dont wanna sell my girl, need help!

1.5 budget is good quality. call a couple mechanics around, ask hoow much they would ask to install a rebuilt trans, get a good rebuilt one from ebay....and voila.

Re: l dont wanna sell my girl, need help!

yups. even in hawaii, good trans companies were rating me ~ 300-500 dollars foir an install, and so i figure if you can get it for 760, and pay 500 for install, you're under your 1.5 budget and good to go! good luck man.

btw, its prolly cuz of all the donuts you do

Re: l dont wanna sell my girl, need help!

yeah man it should be around that price. hopefully it will be covered and l will not pay anything. but l have a feeling that it is not gonna be covered.

l dont do donuts man.. l am not that crazy or rich.

every car can make donuts man.. it is not special for sports cars. l can make donuts with a van.

my car has 127k miles on it and l guess tranny couldnt handle anymore..

the only thing l was doing it always. taking off fast. l am always like that on anycar. l take off so fast. l just cant hit the gas a little bit and take off slowly. probably those killed my sick tranny..
