Question How much should I be paying for Ferrea valves, springs and retainers?

I'm getting a bunch of work done at a speed shop in Red Deer, Alberta. The invoice I've recieved is not broken down into seperate items. I've researched the pricing of everything except for:

Ferrea SS valves (1mm oversized)
Ferrea springs
Ferrea titanium retainers

The Fidanza cam gears (blue) I believe are about $135 american a piece.

Can anyone throw me some numbers? And please if you could, say if it's in american or canadian funds.

Thanks.

Re: How much should I be paying for Ferrea valves, springs and retainers?

Originally I was going to go with the ever popular 264/272 combo with a 1G throttle boby and intake manifold, with a well ported 2G head. But I'm now looking into Crower cams, as I've heard that their research has greatly improved in the last 4 years.

Any takes on this? I have read over and over about the superior flow that a 1G head will have, but I'm not sure anyone around where I live is competent enough to properly mount the cam angle sensor.

Re: How much should I be paying for Ferrea valves, springs and retainers?

Do it yourself . I would do the 1g head swap, I think its a worth while mod. There is crower cams, springs, and retainers on eBay right now and as a package its a pretty good deal.

Heres my two cents on the cams and I would like opinions on this too, we are about to do a head rebuild on Mikes POS. The HKS 264/264, 264/272, and 272/272 pairs are all $580, the Crower 64413, 64414, and 64415 cams are all $525,the Comp 101100 and 101200 cams are $480, and the Forced Performance Cams are $430 for a set. If I'm not mistaken, the HKS 264, Crower 64413, Comp 101100, and FP1 cams are all fairly comparable and the HKS 272, Crower 64414, Comp 101200, and FP2 cams are fairly comparable. I have a hard time justifying spending $580 on HKS cams when FP cams are $150 cheaper and fairly comparable. Also FP has sorta half steps too, they have the FP1, FP1x, FP2 and FP2x (more cams too, but I think they are supposed to be for stoker drag cars, not street cars) so I feel that you can get a cam to fit your specific needs from FP easier than anywhere else. I would recommend you read SBR's and FP's comments on each cam and go from there. I would suggest the FP2's IIRC the FP2 cams are similar to the 272's, but with a little less bottom end torque and more top end power. My (and Mikes) cars will be getting FP2 or FP2x cams.

Forced Performance cams are Zex/Comp cams. The 101100 are FP1's. 101200 are fp2, 101300 are fp3's exc.

Re: How much should I be paying for Ferrea valves, springs and retainers?

My car will be an every day driver. I'll have to have a relatively low RPM power band. I wonder if anyone has used the intake cam from one make, and the exhaust cam of an other, to find the perfect match.

No way? How does that work? What about "x" cams (FP1x, FP2x)? Are they made by the same factory or did FP just jack Comp's profiles (again, bad with the terminology the lobe dimensions and what not)?
