1986 AIR system
1986 cutlass 307 quad auto. a couple of weeks ago the engine would not run very well. i found out that one of the check valves from the air pump to the motor was messed up i replaced it and now during fast idle the hose that connects to the air cleaner will have a small suction to it then all of a sudden it will send out a blast of air into the air cleaner assembly causing the motor to not run. could the bad check valve have caused the air pump to go bad or is there something else causing this problem. please advice. thanks, john

i checked on the price of the diverter auto zone $63.00. is there any way to check out this valve. i noticed it has some wires hooked up to it. is this the right one. will the engine still work if i just removed the V belt and eliminate the air pump all together. thanks , john.

Yes everthing will work, but it is an EPA violation and in states with an emission inspection you will fail.
