'90 Olds 98 Climate Control Fan

Hello, I'm brand new to this forum. I've got a prob with the climate control. I had it set on 72 degrees, on auto, and the fan was running at a lower speed, when all of a sudden it went to high speed. I was just about home so when i finally stopped, I pushed the off button but nothing happened. Tried that some more, tried the fan speed switch but still nothing happened. So I shut the engine off and removed the key, and the fan kept running. So I popped the hood and disconnected the battery and quit for the night. Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: '90 Olds 98 Climate Control Fan

the fan speed is controled by a semiconducter inside the duct near the
fan motor it has a thermostat and a heat sink. if it is stuck in the closed position the fan will stay on.
i got a used one at the junk yard any gm car will do just bring yours and match it.

Thanks for the info. I was searching through the earlier posts and found one with the part #, so I ordered it from GM Parts Direct for $88. It's supposed to arrive in 2 more days.

I was just wondering if this fixed the problem. Mine did this same exact thing today. Shut the car off and the fan motor kept running. If this did fix the issue where exactly is this located at on the vehicle?
