i have a 94 crown vic....the gear selector has alot of play in it and i have no park and barely an reverse due to the selector not being able to go high enough....i think its a linkage problem bcz my nuetral is where park is and my drive is where 2 gear is? how do i fix this?????

Re: gear selector problems.
Look at the bottom of steering column. There is a cable that is attached to a bracket. There are 2 little screws that hold bracket to the column. Make sure these screws are tight. If they are tight, you need to drop the steering column down and check the shift tube bushings. If these are worn out, they need to be replaced also. Last thing, the shift tube is bad about breaking on there. If it is cracked or broken, it needs replaced.
