Question Need any help I can get...

I recently blew out the back window of my 2001 Blazer. Took two weeks to find a window...went to start the truck, ran it for ten minutes and while driving it, it just died. Now it will not start. Does turnover, lights, locks and gadgets all engage and work. Believe it has something to do with the factory alarm system, thinking maybe the alarm has cut juice to the engine but not sure. Has anyone had or ever heard of this problem?

not trying to be nosey ,but what kind of gun did you use , Or was it the stereo ,boom-boom. HAHA
I have heard of something similar but it happened alot faster than ten minutes . A spare key was made for the ignition and the original had a PASSKEY chip in it . The system detected the invalid key and shutdown the fuel pump . Rob

Hey Rob!! One of our friends mentioned the same thing you did. However, truck was purchased used and not from a Chevy dealer so no way of knowing if I have both sets of original keys. The type of gun was my husband, thinking he could back the truck into the garage with the half glass up and the tailgate down with my 7 year old and 11 year old as guides. Merry Christmas to me!!! Read something in the owners manual last night about a shock sensor. Supposed to be in place to shut down the engine if someone breaks a window to steal it. Has a 60 minute sensor and resets every 60 minutes if it still detects a problem. Hoping by putting in the rear window, it will reset and start!! We'll see!! Otherwise, I'll be in here screaming my head off!

Did you try disconnecting the battery to reset the computer?

I had thought of that too. The hubby is finishing putting in the window today. If it doesn't reset the issue, I'll try disconnecting the battery. I wanted it to be my last resort before hauling it off to be serviced

Just a comment here, I can't help with this problem but I've seen a similar thing happen to the in-laws '02 Saturn Coupe (GM products, perhaps the same security system/code). The alarm system took a dump and left the same symptoms you describe. They ended up having to go to a dealer to get the ECM re-flashed.
Hope this isn't your problem.
