Yesterday I went to the track for the first time with my new eclipse. I only got two runs cuz the place was packed as hell. My first run I won't even post because I wasn't paying attention, the tree caught me by surprise and many bad things happened. The second time around, I got into my track mode and made things happen
I missed a gear which I quickly corrected, so I know I can do better. Here are the stats.0759: My friend, stock AUTO 2001 GT, weight 3180 4882: Me, stock MANUAL 2003 GTS, weight 3250 (i didn't have time to take out my 2 12's) ------- LEFT ..... RIGHT Car # ..0759 ..... 4882 Class ..Sport ..... Sport DIAL ... R/T ... .066 ..... .483 60' .... 2.412 ..... 2.568 330 ... 6.789 ..... 6.738 1/8 ... 10.395 ... 10.265 MPH .. 69.01 ..... 71.20 1000 . 13.460 ... 13.245 1/4 ... 16.062 ... 15.763 MPH .. 86.81 .... 90.00 We both fouled, but he fouled horribly, I was pretty close to a perfect .500 and I almost caught up to him at the end. I am pretty sure I can get it to go faster, mind you, this was my first time driving this car on the track and just by practice I was able to get my old prelude from 16.1 to 15.3. Anywho, tell me what you think and let me know what you've run. We both had our tires at 26psi. PS: The weights posted are actual weights taken at the track w/o the drivers.

Re: 1/4 mile time
thats an 'ok' time. you should be alot better with a manual GTS. you should be running low 15's. did you spin off the line? what rpms were you launching at?

Re: 1/4 mile time
ur 60' makes me think you either spun through or bogged, i try launching low ( 2k rpm) and carrying the rpm's only to 5500 or so, i was able to match my buddies' regal t-type off he line... that is until i shifted, so you can do a lot better w/ that car, 15.2 is the supposed track time so get to practicing!!
BTW did you pull that piece off your intake yet? what tires are you running?

Re: 1/4 mile time
i'm running the stockish BF Goodrich tires. I feathered out around 2k rpm, my buddies in the stands say i spun the tires a bit. i know my 60' is crap cuz like i said, i missed 2nd. and yea, i pulled off the lower intake air box and was running with the filter rubber-banded to the upper part of the box (i couldn't get an intake in time)
PS: I was shifting the moment the needle touched the redline, I was thinking of next time shifting into the redline right before the limiter(which means i have to find out EXACTLY where the rev limiter is), you shift before the line?

You said you both fouled...meaning red light? Because your R/T is not -. Even if you both red lit...and you say your friends is worse, a .066 is not as bad as a .455. Dont run your car into redline because there is nothing left in the motor, and the rpm gain you will get after you shift would be lost in running the previous gear longer. Our peak HP is at about 5500...so anything after that is not gonna get you much.
and btw...how do you "miss" 2nd...i can understand 3rd maybe.....but ive NEVER missed 2nd gear. Dont mean to bash you, but it just sounds odd.

Re: 1/4 mile time
I've done that before. Left off the clutch before I am in 2nd gear. I mainly miss when I go from 2nd to 3rd though. I really need to get some new shifter brushing. Right now though I am saving up to get my new clutch in. After that I might just have to take a trip to track and see what I can run

Re: 1/4 mile time
second is really easy to miss too when you've got the stock shifter setup, if i pulled it too hard into second b4 my shifter and shifter boots i would miss, now i never miss
shift at 5600 if you shift after 5600 your wasting gas and too much b4 and u'll fall out of power, at least that's been my experience, my intake makes the engine more audible and as soon as 5600 rolls around it starts to gasp when your in 2nd and third you can shift at most 200rpm later than first shifting at the right point makes a big difference
