84 mercedes benz 300 DT..what does a tune up consist of

i was wondering about a tune up,i am going to try to do this myself,what do i need to do that is considered a tune up on my diesel engine?any info is appreciated,thank..

I'm assuming you have a 300TD. These cars really don't get tune-up's, they get services done to them. According to your maintainance book, the oil change service interval is 7500 miles. Every 15k you have the fuel filters replaces air filter checked and a valve adjustment as well(the valve adjustment is VERY important) At every 30k the vehicle receives(in addition to work already stated) a transmission service. A tech should look everything over and make sure the looplines are ok, check the flex disks, ball joints, etc. at the major services. Prices depend a lot on labor rates and parts prices but a 15k will run in the neighborhood of 150.00 and a 30k will be roughly 300.00. Hope this helps.
