question about sub+amp
I recently just bought a 12" mtx thunder 4500. Peak watts are at 450. I was just wondering what size of amp i should get now. Should i get one that pushes out roughly the same amount of watts as the sub? or should i go lower? I know if the watts are too high i can blow my sub which i obviously don't want to do. I want something that can pound my sub pretty hard though. Any input would be great. Thanks

Re: question about sub+amp
Sorry to break the news but peak power doesnt mean crap. You need to look at the RMS (continuous power) rating. Looks like your MTX can handle up to 225W RMS at 4 ohms. Therefore i would find a amp that puts out between 200-250W @ 4 ohms. You sould be just fine if you stay within that range.
