No, you won't be reving higher. How high you rev depends on the engine and ECU, not the transmission. All you will gain is faster acceleration. You'll have the same power, you'll just get it faster.

At any given speed, the rpms will be higher with a gsr tranny because the gears are closer...

Just because you make it rev higher, doesn't mean it will make power any higher. Though with upgraded cams (and valvetrain), you will probably be able to rev a little bit higher (my guess is maybe a few hundred rpms max).

Re: gsr tanny on a rs

a LS motor peaks hp out at 6300rpm i believe so why do you want to rev higher anyway...higher compression is the answer if you do want to rev higher but the cams will also help...if you want more acceleration than get a b16 tranny instead of a gsr...

thanks again !! if i slap a b16 tranny i will b revving way hi on the highway thats the only reason i want a gsr.besides its a daily driver and i drive the highway a bunch. so is that a good reason not to get a b16??
basically i dont want vtec sound like a headache to maintaine .but i want some noticable gains so I would have to look into a itr ecu, valva's, and cams i already own skunk 2 cam gears and a dc fuil rail so i kinda want to use these parts. thanks in advance for your suggestions

Re: gsr tanny on a rs

well since you do a lot of highway driving, you will be revving at 4k and it will be loud and annoying. The gsr tranny will still stay at a higher rpm when crusing but not as bad as the b16 or itr tranny. If it is your daily driver but you want a little pickup, a gsr tranny will definately help. It will improve your 1/4 mile times because youll have faster acceleration because the gears are closer. Also, dont worry about trying to revv high. To revv high and actually make power, youll need a lot more then just a ecu and cams, and your dreaming enough already so stop while your ahead. Cams can make you revv a little higher but you might need a new valvetrain, and to make use of its power, your gonna have to get it tuned. For now stick with the gsr tranny and let us know when u get that so we can help you later.
