I just bought some new rims. I was wondering what brand you guys would recommend? I want to spend between $100-150ea.
Thanks, Phil |

Re: Tires
What width of rim you get?
In that price range I like the Kumho ECSTA MX. They are made of a soft compound so they wear kind of fast but they are worth it if you’re looking for that little extra grip. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0

Re: Tires
Hey 01L2Cobra, have you ever used the BFG Comp TA tires? I was actually thinking of using them but if you had both the BFGs and the Kumhos maybe you could steer me one direction or the other.

Re: Tires
I have never had a set of BFG tires but a friend of mine would only run BFGs.
From the comparisons I have read both the Kumho ECSTA MX and BFG KDW are great tires but both have trade offs. The KDW is only marginally better as far as handling and traction go but the MX is better as far as ride comfort, noise, and wear. The only other tire that I have ran is the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymmetrical. It was great in the rain and the ride comfort and noise was also but they are lacking in dry traction and handling areas compared to the Kumho MX.

Re: Tires
Yeah the fact that the MX wears a little slower actually is a pretty valid argument on the side of the MX. I am not as worried about the wet traction because I rarely drive it in the rain, but I love to put miles on it when its dry out.
