Need some nice headlight bulbs for my 2002
Need some help with some nice headlight bulbs, corner light bulbs and fog light bulbs for my 2002 G20 sport. I would like some nice zenon type or cyrstal type lights, with the proper wattage of course. The headlights need to be 55/60 Watt(H4) and the fog lights need to be 35 watt. Working in the service dept for an Infiniti dealer, I have seen what the very high wattage bulbs do to the connectors(severe meltdown). I can't believe Infiniti left regular halogen bulbs on the sport package Anyhelp would be appreciated. I went to digitalracer and found some PIAA's, I think they where platinum and plasma. But, they had 55/60 watt = 85/110 watt, I think. Does this mean thay are the correct wattage, but will look like they are 85/110 watt? Luke could probably answer that.

Yep, thats what it means...
the Plasma's have a slightly purple-ish hue to them, which makes them look like HID's.. the Platinum's are very clean white light. Piaa also makes the Plasma's in H3 now for our foglights.. (they're not on the Piaa website yet though) By the way, welcome!! I read in another post that you're a service tech at an Infiniti dealership... you will definately make yourself useful here!!

Mine were easy to install, but since I have the dual headlights from the JDM spec Primeras I didnt need to do any re-wiring as you would with the stock headlights on the G20's
Installing an H4 HID kit is a little more complex since I think you must install a new relay and wiring from it. (I'm about 90% sure its the H4 kits that need the relays and wiring). Still, it's not a very hard job. If you're unsure of yourself, just bring it somewhere to get it installed. You should only be charged about an hour of labor to do the job. PrimeraGT (Henry) just installed some in his car, on stock headlights so he may have better input on the job. One thing to remember, unless you get the Bellof H4 HID kit ($1200) you will lose the ability of having a high beam.. All other HID H4 kits are low beam only..

b-b00gie, do the plasma's really look like HID's? in other words how close do they come to looking like HID's?
thanks |

the Plasma's are the closest looking things to the HID's when viewed head on.
I had them before my HID's and they are the only bulbs that sort of look like they might be real HID's (they dont have that blueish look to them..) This doesnt mean that in any way they come close to performing like HID's. The HID's put so much more light on the ground its unbelievable. In any car I sit in now I always think the headlights are off because it seems like theres no light on the ground. |

Your 100% right, nothing matches the lumination of real HID's - i figure with my current funds, the plasma's are the closet thing right now - thanks for the info.

yah, watchout on those PIAA's they do pull alittle more current than 55w as they say. usually the stock fuse blows and need to go with a bolder rating. it doesn't get hot enough to melt your connectors, though. hehe.
had this issue on my other car using 55w PIAA's that say the were bright like 85w. they sure are a nice white color (superwhites).

I got the lights through a contact in New Zealand who works for a Nissan dealership. The cost was about $600. Please note these lights were designed for right hand drive cars..
As for the HID's, if you dont do it yourself, I would bring it to a car performance shop (just buy the kit there and have them install it) or you can try a place that does alarm/car audio installs. Yes, having HID low beams is definately worth giving up being able to use your high beams... worth every penny of the $600+ for the HID's |
