Trunk Leak problem fixed

Ahoy

Happy new year, and on new years day, had the time and sun to plug the trunk leak problem.

Turns out not to be a sealant problem on the rubber lining that surrounds the lip, but in fact on the trunk hatch itself.

There's a very strange thing on the way the hatch is contructed, essentially for the corners FORD just folded some metal, leaving a rather large whole that water runs into when the hatch is closed. I used some silicon lyquid insulation squirt on hand and plugged those wholes up. Been two days with rain and no leaks.

I might post a pic later, but I would suggest it's this obvious design flaw, i resealed the rubber with some black silicon, but not sure it did much except make a total mess on my hands and generally be a disaster of sorts.

happy 2006
