Keep losing :(

I have a bad habit of racing my boyfriend's integra on the freeway but he always smokes me. Im just wondering what I can do to my corolla that would allow me to smoke him. Im thinking NOS or something. Maybe like a 100 shot of NOS would do the trick. Any suggestions?

Re: Keep losing :(

Corollas aren't meant to be fast. Even if you did try to force that engine to produce more power, you may end up blowing it. I wouldn't chance it. Plus, you shouldn't be racing on public roads. For one thing, it's illegal. For another, you can get somebody killed. Please take your racing to the tracks where they belong and off public roads.

My corolla was definitely "meant" to be fast. It was destined. One way or another, im going to make it fast. A friend of mine said that an AEM intake will add at least 50 horsepower to the wheels, so i might just do that. Maybe get some bigger injectors, because more fuel means more powowowower!!!! And as far as racing on public roads, that is because I have become desensitized to what is wrong and my morals have been skewed by video games such as Need for Speed Underground and Tokyo Extreme Racing. If I ever happen to kill someone or get in a wreck where the primary cause was street racing, I am going to blame it on video games and sue them so I will actually come out better off after the crash than before.

tunnin corolla

corollas can be good for racing only down side is engine size and sedan. they are light weight and had a good drag coefficient for a sedan. so if you get a new engine or do the following it'll make it faster.
1. start out by getting a cold air intake system (aftermarket) this will get you a good start because your getting more power in the combustion chamber (about 10-20 hp gain)
2. new aftermarket exhaust system: a great way to have more power, this will stop it from having back pressure, you want to improve the flow of exhaust.
3. underdrive pulley: easy way to gain some hp, and easy
4. short-throw shifer (manual) or shift kit(automatic)
5. now when you have most of these it's time for the ECU chip, the expensive are worth it, read into it more of what it does, dont feel like explaining that, but it'll get get more power and could save gas

a suspension kit upgrade could also help a lot as well

and one other thing is to make your car lighter may sound a bit
if you really wanted to go crazy you could have it supercharged it is possible, but i dont think a 1.8 can handle that forced induction so maybe only if you got engine swap.

about the nos

dont think having nos in a corolla is a good idea. first of all you have to do most of the steps i posted to have it. and second is any forced induction in a 1.8 L just wont work out

Re: Keep losing :(

are u fuckin kidding 50 horse power loooooooooooooooooool ima be honest with u. a intake will give u 3-10hp depending how restrictive the stock air intake system is.. headers will give u about 3hp full exaust with free flow cat will give 8-15 depending on how restrictive the stock system is . truth be i had a 4afe engine which is prolly what u have an i did all thos things + more .no dought i made the car more powerfulthan stock. i could pull in first gear but second an third i got smoked.an i felt bad cuz i put all this money to my engine an stock ass cars was still kicking my ass. heres my point . to beat him ur gonna need a new engine. i swapped in a 4age 20 valve silvertop from japan. an i kick a lil ass now.i wouldnt recommend this engine to u because its exspensive to mod it alot even tho it come 160hp stock.for u if u swaped in a 4agze supercharged engine ud eat the hell out of that integra. it range from 160 to 180 hp but the tourqe is crazy 170tourqe at like 2000 rpm because of the supercharger. u can mod that engine well past 200hp. as for your friend tell her stop smokin crack dooin meth or shrooms.i was forced to get the 4age 20 v after my regular engine rod came threw the block

Re: Keep losing :(

power is the least of your worries. I have a 95 geo prizm myself with a 4afe(1.6). I have a custom intake which im playing with how long to make it still and a defined exhuast no muffler that still needs some work. First i will tell you this i have serveral friends that have tegys they are a great car the B18 is a fine engine. We are working with less so dont worry so much on power. Go first and find a nice 16x7 rim and through on some good 205/45 tires that right there will make the handling improve, next try and get some suspension i think kyb makes some if money is an issue cut the srpings(the right way) it goes against what i believe in but i myself am going to do it, after that throw in a front and rear sway bar, and even though i love the brakes on those cars go with ebc dippled and slotted rotors with some hawk pads. Right there you will own everyone in twistys, in my car right now i beat so many cars because those cars want to be thrown into corners but watch out the back end wants to slip out a bit just give it a little me throttle and you will pull out fine, now for power get a pacesetter header and go 2.5 inch back. Custom 2.5-3in intake will do fine and crank up the timing a bit. Now with this car weight is a big factor, ive noticed big differences by adding or taking a little weight here and there, take out everything in the trunk and back seats lining too, and you will notice how light she will feel and the awesome stance when the back sits up a little higher than the front. Mainly dont let anyone tell you shit about your car, its a car not the best car but its a fun car and what they dont realize is that straight line racing is not for real racers if you are just gonna run 12s and up go do some practicing on some good turns get to know the feel of the car what she does and when. Any car can be a fun car if you know how to drive it. rock the 4afe and show everyone PM me at [email protected] if you wanna know anything else.

Re: Keep losing :(

This is the dumbest thread ever!!!
I own a 98 corolla CE and a 90 Eclipse GS-T. I modded my corolla with the basics (intake and all that junk) and when I timed it on the track 0-60 mph it did 9.3 seconds, compared to the 9.8 stock. This is ridiculous. I wanted a faster car so I bought the eclipse gs-t for $1400. It is turbocharged stock and has 190 hp. I timed it and it did 6.7 seconds 0-60 mph and is yet to be modded easier than any other car. Don't waste your money on a corolla. It's just pointless with that engine, especially the 1.6 is a joke. This is a compact car made to save gas, not race other cars. You want to race, get a sports car!
