Re: help with supercharger

sounds like your just gettin into the power adder world. your gunna need to ask yourself a few qustions first. how much ya want to spend and how fast ya want to go. i assume its a daily driver and you want a pump gas reasonably reliably car. as far as superchargers go there are two different kinds, this leads to another question you have to ask..were do you want your power. a centrifigul blower{ ie. vortek, paxton, ati procharger} will give you the most power higher in the rpm band. boost will come on in full sometime after 3k rpm. those ar eall great supercharge i mentioned but they canbe pricy. a used vortec s trim is a good wayto get off cheep. if you want it all new and dont have the money for those brands i would suggest a powerdyne. if you want the power down low in the rpm band than the best wayto go is a kenne bell. this is a twin screw blower. it sits right ontop of the lifter valley were your upper intake manifold currently is. it will have full boost at about 1,500-2,000 rpm. as soon as you put your foot down you have the power. a centrifigul blower will pull harder at the drag strip and you will go faster all things conidered. a twin screw or roots style blower like an eaton or whipple will be more fun to drive around town. you will have to worry about traction issues more with a roots/twin screw style blower. as for what to buy first... vortech has a kit that comes wiht everything you need to fun a supercharger for a bit more than 2k. but that is without the blower itself. that will be another 1,800-2,000$ your lookin at about 5k to put a blower{all new} on your car after , fule and ignition systems are upgraded. then you have to add a bit more for some good drag radials to get the power to the ground.
