Unhappy try this one! cold antifreeze geyser from radiator????

My 89 cavy is dead for one. I bought a 2000 Blazer, but want to keep the cavy as a project car. The question is this. One morning, I was driving and heard a noise, yada..yada...yada. For the whole story, find my post on major problem!!!!!!!!!. The question I have is why won't it start. One morning, after I had gotten it back from the garage to fix the thermostat and the spark plugs, (it ran for two days). On the third day, I went to take the radiator cap off to check the level of the antifreeze, because the garage told me that there was a small leak somewhere. i saw a little pool of green on top of the water pump. i don't know where that came from, but i have an idea. Anywho, when i unscrewed the radiator cap, WHOOSH!!!!, the antifreeze actually shot up like a geyser and all over everything. What could cause that. the garage also did a compression test to check the head gasket, and he said that it was fine. i get puffs of white smoke out of the tailpipe when i try to start it.

I'm not that stupid. I know enough about cars to know not to open a hot radiator. I unscrewed the cap off monday morning. It had been sitting in the driveway all day sunday. It's winter time here and about 15 degrees at night. When i try to start it, the antifreeze will back up into the jug while making a bubbling noise??

Also, the antifreeze landed on my hands. That's how I know it was cold.

ok good your not stupid. is your rad clogged at all. might of been some presure in there for some reason or another. but your main concern is that it won't start.

Try to elinimate possibilities like opening your gas cap, and making sure that everything you did with the spark is ok. I am not sure what is all on an 89 but check the wires, cap, rotor, and then the spark plugs. pull them out and make sure none of them are junked up. with only two days driving on them they should still look good. try that first.
