97 ford ranger 4x4 problem 4x4 high works but 4x4 low will not engage

i dont know why this is happening my brother borrowed the car and broke a tooth on a locking cam

today i replaced it with a perfect locking cam

i dont know what to do to get 4x4 low to engage it wont go to 4x4 low

4x4 high works and 2wd works they automatically work properly

if any1 can suggest some things i can check on i would really appreciate it

nevermind i feel so stupid

i forgot i had to be in nuetral to activate 4x4 low

its been working the whole time
