Gauge fun!

Ok.. I've noticed that my fuel gauge seems to drop in increments.. I put 6 miles on it and somehow it's down to 3/4 of a tank. Also, there is still an additional 6 gallons when it reachs E (I've heard of a reserve..but 23% of the tank??) I was wondering what might be causing this.. Also, my speedometer seems to be around 10 mph fast, but I have factory sized wheels. I've noticed that the needle is resting on the column and isn't stopping at 0 (it goes beyond until it hits something that hold it steady). It would make sense if it stopped at 10 mph because I could just say the needle is off. Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks!

Re: Gauge fun!

check you fuel sending unit. It is the peice that holds your fuel pump in the tank. You might also check your fuses. If your truck is an automatic there is a sensor on the tranny that tells the speedo how fast you are going. Could also be the ecm. Good luck, keep us posted.
